When millimeters matter, an accurate starting point is crucial. That’s why the D2 has our intelligent endpiece to ensure that measurements are accurate for cutting or taking precise as-built measurements of rough openings. This makes the D2 an ideal choice for carpentry or for installers who need to measure for things like appliances, windows, or doors.
The intelligent endpiece flips out 90 degrees to hook around an outside corner. Or fully extend it and the D2 to will measure from the tip. It is directly connected to the circuit board so the D2 can automatically adjust the measuring point to correspond to the position of the endpiece (that's what makes it "intelligent").
Combined with Min/Max mode, the intelligent endpiece makes it easy to determine the precise diagonal distance of a square or rectangular opening. Just tuck the endpiece into a corner and hold the On/Dist button down to engage the Min/Max mode, then sweep the opposite corner. The longest "max" distance shown is your diagonal measurement.
